The Active Word
At the age of 24, Bob Coy left a coveted position in the music industry to serve as an associate pastor with Calvary Chapel of Las Vegas. In 1985, Bob and his wife, Diane, moved to Fort Lauderdale and began Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale. As senior pastor, he has become well known for his unique style in expounding the Scriptures, making them come alive and relate to those of us living in the 21st century. His teaching style emphasizes the believer’s "life application" of the highest standards of God's truth while his delivery captures the loving heart of God's Spirit.
Pastor Bob has had the rare privilege of watching God’s miraculous hand move in the individual lives of those in the fellowship as well as the corporate body as a whole. From the first meeting in a living room with four in attendance, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale has now become home to over 17,000 men and women from the tri-county area, and ranks as the eighth largest church in the country. Though many have tried to attribute its rapid growth to numerous reasons, no one is more surprised by the phenomenon than Pastor Bob, who gives total credit and all the glory to God alone.

Growing up in Southern California, Skip experienced the volatile days of the counter-culture of the late 60s and early 70s. The early part of Skip's life was filled with the search for life's meaning. As a young musician, he got caught up in the "scene," including bouts with drugs and a couple of arrests. By age 18, he had ventured into the spirit world of astral-projection and automatic writing, again finding no answers.
In 1973, Skip left home and moved to the San Francisco Bay area to enroll in college and escape his Christian friends who were trying to "convert" him. But God had a different plan for Skip's life. One day, alone in his brother's apartment in San Jose, Skip was watching TV and became mesmerized by Billy Graham. The Gospel message penetrated Skip's soul and he knelt down and prayed to receive Christ.
In a few days, Skip made his way back to southern California where he studied under Chuck Smith at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa until 1981. Then Skip and his new bride, Lenya, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Skip worked in the field of radiology and started a small home Bible Study at an apartment complex. The Bible Study continued to grow and in 1988 and 1989, Calvary of Albuquerque was considered the fastest growing church in America, according to a church survey by Dr. John Vaughn.
Today, Calvary of Albuquerque ministers to over 14,000 adults and their children every weekend. Several other churches have spun off from Calvary of Albuquerque, including churches in Arizona, Colorado, and other parts of New Mexico. Skip reaches out to many people across the nation through multi-media ministry including a nationwide half-hour radio program, The Calvary Connection.
Skip also helps equip others for living according to God's principles through his writings. Recent books include: When God Prays, How to Study the Bible and Enjoy it (revised), and Jesus Up Close. He also publishes a Lifestyle Series of booklets. The first in the series are Procrastination, Temptation and Unforgiveness. Current booklets are Biblical Response to Terror and Confronting Your Culture.
Skip serves on several Boards of Directors including Samaritan's Purse. Skip, Lenya and their teenage son moved back to California in January 2004 to serve at Ocean Hills Community Church in San Juan Capistrano.

Jeff Johnson is the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Downey, California. He has traveled extensively to many parts of the world lecturing and preaching the Word of God. In addition, his teachings are now being heard daily with the radio program "Sound Doctrine."
Jeff has been involved in the ministry since 1973 as a Pastor/Teacher and Bible Expositor. The emphasis within his ministry is a verse by verse study of the Word of God, giving its full counsel. His studies pay particular attention to the practical application, contemporary examples, and incorporation of the Word into our daily lives.
As a result, his studies are extremely interesting, informative, and spiritually challenging. His influence has experienced a steady and substantial growth over the years with people of all ages. Under the ministry of Jeff Johnson, Calvary Chapel of Downey has grown to average weekly attendance of more than 9,000. Teaching seminars, Bible classes, home studies, various training programs, mission outreaches, as well as a Christian Elementary & Jr./Sr. High School, and Bible college meet the needs of this large body.
Calvary Chapel's impact is growing from Southern California to virtually around the world. Jeff is supported in his ministry by his wife Karyn.
Pancho Juarez is currently the pastor of Calvary Chapel Montebello in California. He believes that Jesus Christ is the only answer and hope for this dying world. It is this belief that led Pancho to teach others about Christ.
While attending Calvary Chapel in West Covina, California, Pancho received most of his biblical servanthood and training. Pancho joined the church leadership but eventually felt called to go back to the hometown of his youth to minister to his community. He started a home fellowship group that grew to over 200 members. With so many people attending, they decided to move to a larger facility: a converted barn.
However, a year later, this growing congregation needed even more space and moved to a local high school auditorium. It officially became a church on July 12, 1992. However, in July of 1995 the church yet took another turn and moved to a 98,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Two years later, the property officially belonged to Calvary Chapel Montebello.
The church has now grown to more that 3,000 adults and 1,000 children with enough activities to keep the church open all week long. Pancho is supported by his wife, Millie, and his five children: Jasmine, Bianca, Alexandria, Sebastian and Zoe.

Greg Laurie, the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, began his pastoral ministry at age 19 by leading a Bible study of 30 people. Since then, God has transformed that small group into a church of some 15,000 people.

Bridging the Gap
Pastor Lloyd Pulley was born in Michigan in 1958. After the death of his mother when he was only 4, Lloyd lived with and was raised by his godly grandmother, who prayed earnestly that he would someday serve God. Those prayers were answered in 1976 when one of Lloyd's classmates at Michigan State University shared the gospel with Lloyd, and he received Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Lloyd quickly felt the call on his life to full-time ministry and decided to abandon a full academic scholarship, his pursuit of an engineering degree, and his college wrestling goals to serve God. He moved to California where he became an intern at Calvary Chapel West Covina (now Calvary Chapel Golden Springs). There he met his wife Karen (whom he affectionately calls his Armenian Princess) and began a family while training in the ministry.
In 1984, 4 years after being ordained as an Associate Pastor, Lloyd felt the call on his life again, only this time it was to plant a church on the East Coast. He once again packed his bags and left a full-time position, his family, and friends to venture out into the unknown. God honored that faithfulness and in less than 20 years, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge (CCOB) has grown from 3 families to almost 5000 adults and children.
While Pastor Lloyd's focus has been on expositional teaching, he also has a strong heart for missions and has traveled throughout the world spreading the gospel and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. He is currently heard daily on Bridging the Gap, the radio-teaching ministry of CCOB.
Lloyd is author of two books. His first publication, Walk in Love: Following God's Plan for Marriage, encourages husbands and wives to consult God's Word for direction in their marriage. Lloyd's second book, Patient Evangelism: Reaching the Multitudes One at a Time, was born out of 9/11 relief work and teaches believers how to share the Gospel using Jesus' perfect example.
Lloyd is known for his love for Mexican food, basketball, and playing practical jokes on his staff. Lloyd and Karen have recently entered a new phase of their lives as their daughter has married and their son is now in the Air Force. They are hoping the addition of 2 new kittens in their home will help fill the void!
Pastor Lloyd’s teaching of God’s truth is practical, encouraging, inspirational, and challenging. He has unique way of explaining God's Word in a transparent manner to help listeners apply it to their daily lives. He covets your prayers as he continues his high calling to serve Christ.

The Word From Calvary
Lance Ralston is the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel of Oxnard, which began in the Fall of 1982. Over that time Calvary has steadily grown from a half dozen families to a congregation of seven hundred fifty adults. Pastor Ralston's method of teaching is solidly expositional, following the Inductive method of Observation, Interpretation, and Application.
During the mid-week study, he teaches from one to five or more chapters, verse by verse. Sunday morning sermons are drawn from the passages being covered in the mid-week study. This two-fold method of teaching both survey and in-depth, provides the congregation with a good balance that moves them through the whole counsel of God's Word while being able to focus on major themes of both theology and the practical issues of the Christian life.
A Sure Foundation
David Rosales is a Mexican-American who was raised in Norwalk, California, and received early religious training as a Roman Catholic. After five years of increasing rebellion in his teenage years, during the summer of 1970, when David was 19 years old, he attended a church service in a small church located in Costa Mesa, California. Though David rejected the opportunity that day, the seed of the gospel was planted. Later that year, on December 27, he attended a Christian event. The messages and music were Christ centered, and when an invitation to receive Christ was given, David opened his heart and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
After his salvation he began to see many of his family members come to Christ as well. He then got involved in various ministries for the next few years.
On July 26, 1981, Calvary Chapel of Ontario began to meet, with 25 adults, and approximately 20 children. The church moved in 1992 from the city of Ontario to the City of Chino, and is now known as Calvary Chapel of the Chino Valley. The church has continued to grow over the past several years, and presently ministers to over 5,000 adults and 1,800 children weekly. The fellowship meets for studies and events 7 days a week, and continues to grow on a weekly basis.
David was led to begin radio ministry, and is presently heard on stations throughout the United States, from California to New York. David considers teaching the Bible to be one of the greatest and most exciting privileges any person can have the opportunity to do, and through our ministry of teaching through tapes and radio, it is our hope and prayer that his ministry may be of great blessing to you.

That church, known as, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, has now grown into a church that draws about 25,000 people weekly.
